On Monday, April 27, a hospital employee was found dead at her workplace at Riga East Clinical University Hospital (Latvia), the hospital confirmed.

State police said they received a call regarding a possible accident at the hospital in which an employee lost her life.

A criminal investigation has been launched under Section 146(2) of the Criminal Law, related to violations of labour safety regulations resulting in death.

The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation. According to available information, the employee was trapped in doors in the hospital’s Radiology Department after a safety system failed.

The hospital expressed its deepest condolences to the employee’s family, relatives, and colleagues.
