Hapvida and Promptly Health, the Portuguese company providing Real-World Evidence (RWE) solutions, have announced a strategic partnership to make Brazilian health data accessible to the global medical research community, in full compliance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
The agreement connects the clinical research infrastructure of Brazil’s largest healthcare provider with Promptly Health’s European data infrastructure, which already brings together more than 400 hospitals and clinics across Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Through this partnership, Hapvida joins a network spanning two continents, creating a combined ecosystem covering more than 70 million patient lives and establishing one of the world’s most geographically diverse health data resources for medical research.
Real-World Evidence (RWE) refers to the use of data generated through routine healthcare delivery to support research and improve the quality of patient care. It includes evidence on the use, safety and effectiveness of medicines, treatments and medical products, derived from the analysis of patient records and clinical histories.
The partnership aims to unlock the value of the vast volume of data already generated by Hapvida by organising and standardising it into research-ready datasets for healthcare companies, academic institutions and innovators.
“Brazil holds an extraordinary wealth of clinical data that remains, to a large extent, invisible to the global research community. This partnership with Promptly Health gives us the tools to structure and curate that data, creating a bridge between the day-to-day reality of our hospitals and the evidence researchers and innovators need,” said Rodrigo Sardenberg, Director of Clinical Research at Hapvida.
A commitment to clinical intelligence
The collaboration addresses one of the most persistent bottlenecks in traditional Real-World Evidence studies, where a significant proportion of time is spent locating, organising and standardising data before analysis can begin.
By streamlining this process, research teams can move more quickly from research question to evidence, drawing on data from real patients, real treatments and real-world outcomes.
What Hapvida has built over the past 80 years is extraordinary—not only in scale but also in ambition. The company’s investment in data science and its commitment to using clinical intelligence to improve patient care and support clinical decision-making provide the foundations for a truly meaningful data partnership. With 16 million beneficiaries and a network that continues to expand across all five regions of Brazil, Hapvida offers a depth of real-world clinical insight that has never before been accessible to the global research community. We are proud that Hapvida has chosen Promptly and our Evidence Network as partners to unlock that potential.

The therapeutic priorities of the partnership will be defined jointly by the two organisations, with a focus on harnessing the scale and diversity of Brazilian clinical data to address gaps in the global evidence base.
More than a bilateral collaboration, the partnership provides a practical model for how healthcare providers can transform clinical data into a strategic driver of research and innovation. It also represents a tangible step towards a global evidence ecosystem in which Latin America plays an active role as a source of high-quality clinical knowledge.
