Not every app wants more of your screen time: Rocapine raises $13M

More and more, digital health is moving away from the idea that success means maximizing screen time. Many apps have been built to keep users coming back again and again, using behavioral techniques that encourage frequent use.

While effective for growth, these models have also contributed to growing concerns around digital addiction, attention, and mental well-being.

French startup Rocapine, which has raised $13 million in Series A funding, is taking a different approach. The company develops wellness applications that use the same principles of behavioral design—not to increase screen time, but to support healthier habits and improve well-being.

Or, as the company puts it, it builds wellness apps that help people feel truly alive.

Today, we each spend 5h16 a day on phones designed to hook us. The apps winning right now don’t earn our attention: they engineer it, then sell it. The emptier we feel, the better their numbers look. We started Rocapine to flip that script.

The company reports more than 2.5 million downloads, nearly 500,000 active users, and $6 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

Its long-term objective is to demonstrate that digital products can be designed to create lasting health outcomes rather than maximizing user attention.

The funding reflects growing investor interest in technologies that align digital engagement with wellness, signaling a broader shift in how success may be defined in the next generation of consumer health applications.
