Digital health: Preparing healthcare systems for the future. European Parliament public hearing

On the 24th of June, Committee on Public Health is organising a public heating on ‘Digital health: Preparing healthcare systems for the future’.

It will focus on preparing healthcare systems for the future, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), European Health Data Space (EHDS), biotechnology, breakthrough medical devices and advanced medical technologies.

Due to demographical changes, a growing share of the population suffering from chronical diseases and an unmet need for more healthcare personnel; healthcare systems are under growing pressure to deliver better outcomes with limited resources.

The challenge is not only to deploy technology, but to make sure it is trusted, interoperable, and useful in real clinical settings.

The EU medical devices sector is large and innovative, with many SMEs active in the market, but it also relies on a regulatory framework that protects patient safety and supports performance standards.

European Parliament accentuates that the future of healthcare will simultaneously depend on the intelligent use of data and the safe deployment of new technologies.
