3Diamond wins Czech DIGI@MED Award for hospital 3D printing innovation

The PLM3Diamond platform has won the Czech DIGI@MED Award, recognising its contribution to advancing point-of-care 3D printing in hospitals.

PLM3Diamond won the Czech DIGI@MED Award. Which is a wonderful sentence to write — and a dangerous one, because now the software will probably expect better coffee in the office. But seriously: I see this as recognition not only of a product, but of a direction. Point-of-care 3D printing is moving from enthusiastic innovation toward structured hospital manufacturing. And that shift needs more than printers, materials, and talented engineers. It needs documentation. Traceability. Quality. Audit readiness.

3 Diamond’s CIO Daniel Schwarz

PLM3Diamond serves as a product lifecycle management (PLM) and quality management system (QMS) layer for hospital 3D-printing workflows. 

The platform is designed to help healthcare teams move from DICOM and STL files to controlled, traceable and ISO 13485-ready processes.

Schwarz thanked the team at the Institute of Biostatistics and Analyses (IBA), which has supported the project’s development, as well as long-term clinical partner Krajská nemocnice Liberec, particularly Lukáš Čapek.

While the developers acknowledge that the future of point-of-care 3D printing is not yet fully defined, they believe the sector is moving closer to becoming structured, auditable and scalable.

The platform is aimed at innovative hospitals and surgical or simulation teams seeking to implement point-of-care 3D printing without adding the burden of extensive MDR paperwork and ISO 13485 documentation.

By automating and structuring the entire device lifecycle, PLM3Diamond aims to make data governance and patient safety an integral part of the process rather than an additional administrative task.
